Embarking on the authorship journey comes with three significant hurdles:
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞: 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠
Overcoming the initial fear of writing is often the toughest challenge. It took me eight years to complete my first book, Back On My Feet, despite having over a decade of experience in the book industry. This phase demands perseverance and self-belief.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞: 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠
Publishing can be daunting, but fortunately, our continent now offers a multitude of options. Don’t navigate this path alone—seek a publishing coach or mentor to guide and encourage you through the process. Their support can be invaluable.

Marketing is crucial, as readers often connect with the author before the book itself. Don’t shy away from promoting your work. Instead, find a community of like-minded authors, collaborate, form partnerships, and empower yourself to effectively market your book. This is where African Christian Authors Book Award – ACABA comes in, we simply call it ACABA.
Remember, this journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep moving forward, even when the road ahead seems long. Do not grow weary!
The ACABA Authors Program for African Christian Authors is more than just an award—it’s a journey of growth, empowerment, and community for writers dedicated to spreading Christian values through their work. Here’s a glimpse into the transformative 2024-2025 ACABA Program:

𝐃. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬’ 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 (𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲-𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓)
Comprehensive feedback sessions in January and February provide authors with actionable insights from judges. Whether it’s re-editing, redesigning, or republishing, the goal is to elevate the quality of African Christian literature.
𝐄. 𝐍𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬 (𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨)
In 2025, we will expand the written nominees’ journeys into 15-20 minute recorded videos, produced at CLC Kenya or remotely, to share authors’ stories more dynamically with their audiences. Embracing the power of media, we meet people where they are to minister more effectively.
𝐅. 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬
Monthly topical panels feature authors discussing relevant themes. These discussions are shared across social media, vlogs, and podcasts, further promoting African Christian content.
𝐆. 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬
We compile and record devotionals by African Christian authors, enriching our communities with spiritual guidance.
𝐇. 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬
We continually bring onboard partners, book agents, and industry stakeholders to enhance the support for African publishing. Suggestions for new connections are always welcome.
𝐈. 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐬
Post-gala, nominees are invited to volunteer their time and expertise to address areas needing improvement, aligning their strengths with program opportunities.
This comprehensive program is designed to not only celebrate but also elevate African Christian authors, ensuring their voices are heard and their messages resonate far and wide. Join us in this enriching journey, and let’s transform the landscape of African Christian literature together.
