Writing is God Ordained – Biblical Inspiration for Authors (Pst. Jennifer Favor)

Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.

“Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.

Habakkuk 2:2-4

WRITING IS A GIFT FROM THE BEGINNING

Writing has always been a noble thing since the ancient times. Not everyone had the gift of writing, but the writers wrote not only for themselves but also for others. It was a way of preserving information. For example, the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) are mostly associated with Moses as the writer. Later we see other prophets’ writings and in the New Testament we have the Gospels by the immediate Apostles/Disciples of Jesus writing, Paul, and a few others.

WRITING IS FOR US AND FOR THE GENERATIONS TO COME

We are called to be writers for the generation we are in and generations to come. We are supposed to be also aware of the contemporary people and the situations that face all of us. When we write we inform, we encourage, inspire, guide, teach, entertain, counsel, mentor, give different perspectives of life. Everyone has a story to tell. I believe God is still writing my story because where I was last year, what I knew is not where I am this year and so is your case and every other person’s case. Writers are messengers of hope, as per the reference above “write the vision and make it plain……It will surely come though it tarries” I see this as goal setting. When you have written a goal down you try your best to achieve it. You evaluate from time to time and with consistence you achieve and move on to the next goal. It helps in keeping records and can be kept for future generations.

THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDES OUR WRITING

When we write our thoughts, the Holy Spirit guides us and helps us pass important messages to others. Our writing is impactful to others. In Jeremiah 30:2 Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. We see it was a directive from God for it to be written. Every writer has an audience depending on the subject at hand. CLC is key on mostly Christian content and morally sound content that is why most of us have connected to them.

Writing is essential because it is way of testing our skills, work, learning, communication, and thinking skills. It is a way to foster our ability to explain and refine our ideas to others and ourselves. Writing is good for stimulating our brains, strengthens our imaginations too; bringing joy to our hearts, it is therapeutic.
