The Fall: Adult Sexual Sin

Raha, a thirty year old high flyer is a senior program manager in a leading multinational. She has it all – the position, prestige, education, work experience, status and considerable wealth. She is a woman of class that does not need a man for basic sustenance.

She has traveled the world, met great people and is highly exposed. However, she desires to have a loving husband and start a great family. She meets Joe, a guy who is equally exposed and has lived abroad for so many years. She falls in love and a few months later, she falls into sexual sin and gets pregnant.

Our society is accustomed to men abscording their fatherly responsibilities due to financial challenges. However, there are men who are non-committal towards family life even if finances were not an issue. Raha finds herself going through the pregnancy alone, because Joe hurriedly travels back abroad even though Raha is not necessarily desperate for financial assistance from him.

Though Raha manages to pay the bills every month, cares well enough for the new baby, she is desperate for emotional support to raise the child. Scriptures have put it that,

Two are better than one because they have a more satisfying return for their labor; for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and does not have another to lift him up. Again, if two lie down together, then they keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? And though one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Raha had to get professional help to manage the postpartum depression and manage her emotional melt down better. She moved churches and formed new relationships there. When she is emotionally stable she cares better for the baby and herself. She has prayer fellowships with some of the new relationships for extra strength to keep going. She also relies heavily on her mom and her family to surround her baby with the love that’s needed.

It is overwhelming for a mother or a father to raise a child alone. That is why God put the two together, male and female, so they can assist each other in this godly assignment.
