Dreams As A Tool of Change & Positioning S1E8

From previous sessions, we established that dreams serve primarily as a means of communication between humans and God. These dreams can take many forms—visual images, auditory commands, frightening nightmares—but the common feature is a revelatory message from the divine to the dreamer.

For God speaks once, and even twice, yet no one notices it [including you, Job].
In a dream, a vision of the night [one may hear God’s voice], When deep sleep falls on men, while slumbering upon the bed. Then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction. That He may turn man aside from his conduct, and keep him from pride; He holds back his soul from the pit [of destruction]. And his life from passing over into Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead). Job 33:14-18

One of the ways God speaks to us is in dreams, and it is important to remain open and receptive to His messages. It is only through a humble and attentive heart that we can truly hear and understand the voice of God when we fall in deep sleep.

God’s ultimate goal is to guide us towards righteousness and away from sin. By opening their ears and sealing their instructions, He ensures that they receive the guidance necessary to avoid pitfalls such as pride and destruction and lead a fulfilling life in His presence. This protection extends beyond physical life, as He also safeguards their souls from eternal damnation in Sheol.

Dreams as a Tool of Change:

Change is defined as – to alter or modify (someone or something); make different or to replace (something) with another, especially with a newer or improved version of the same kind; switch out one thing for (another)…

Therefore, a change in behaviour or attitude is referred to as change, so is shift or transformation of circumstances.

Change can occur in a variety of areas of life, including relationships, careers, and personal beliefs. It can be a gradual process or a sudden transformation.

How can we use dreams as a tool of change?

Scriptures in the Bible show several examples of dreamers who brought about change in their lives and in the lives of those close to them. Some also changed in their positioning in life because of the dreams they had and the message they received from God.

Joseph:

One of the most well-known dreamers in the Bible is Joseph, who interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and became a powerful ruler – second in command in Egypt and saved his family from famine.

Joseph’s story is a testament to the power of dreams and their ability to shape our lives. It also serves as a reminder that with determination and perseverance, we can overcome even the most challenging circumstances.

Change & positioning: Joseph moved from prison (prisoner) to the palace (ruler)

Israel (72 men) moved from Canaan to Gorshen in Egypt.

An empire’s people moved from starvation to enough food in a famine.

Daniel:

Daniel interpreted King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and rose to a high position in Babylon. As a result of his position, Daniel was able to influence Babylonian policies and protect the Jewish people. He also continued to interpret dreams for subsequent kings, including King Belshazzar. He became known for his wisdom and was respected by both the Babylonians and the Jews living in exile.

Daniel’s influence and wisdom also extended beyond his time in Babylon, as his prophecies about the coming of the Messiah and the end times are still studied and revered by many today. Additionally, Daniel’s unwavering faith in God throughout his trials and tribulations serves as an inspiration to believers of all generations.

Change & positioning: Daniel moved from an exiled man to king’s adviser.

Daniel became a reference point on the coming of Messiah and the end times to date.

Daniel became an inspiration to Christians throughout history to date.

Israel (exiled) were protected under his influence.

Joseph:

In the New Testament, an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and instructed him to take Mary as his wife and raise Jesus as his own son. This is such an important instruction towards the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan – and it came through a dream.

These examples demonstrate the significance of dreams in shaping one’s destiny and fulfilling God’s plan.

Change & positioning: Joseph became the father of the Messiah.

Joseph protected the Messiah from persecution until God’s appointed time.

Joseph participated in God’s redemptive plan.
