One of the truths we hold as Christians is the fact that we are the dwelling place of God. This very true reality is that GOD IS OUR DWELLING PLACE. Many scriptures convey this truth both in the Old and New Testaments.
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
“27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: [a]which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”

I have found myself pausing to think and meditate on what exactly does this means and what are the implications of this to my life. We are the dwelling place of God. What does this mean? At this point, it helps to be like little children and imagine the reality of God being your house. How would that be?
Implications of us being God’s dwelling place:
1. Safety
This is significant in the times we are living with all the insecurities (mental, physical health, economic) that we are facing.
Ponder on this, the God of the Bible is unmatched in strength and power. He is called the Almighty One, The Great and Terrible God among other names. This is where you live; your location goes beyond your physical address, you reside in the LORD OF HOSTS.
David had understood this truth. There are many places in the Psalms where he acknowledges this reality that God is His dwelling place and safety. (Psalms 91) is a good example of this reality. Verse 2 says God is our refuge, fortress and in Him we shall trust. By definition, a fort is a military construction or building designed for defense.
“Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; [10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling”

2. Productivity
God is the place where we have our optimal productivity. The same way water is a fish optimal environment, so is God to a believer’s every aspect of life – authorship, parenting, ministry, business, etc. God is our Habitation or Habitat and therefore our natural home or environment that contains the resources we need to thrive.
Conclusion
Jesus puts it very well in John 15.
John 15:4-5 (KJV)
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing”
In the place called In Him, we receive what we need to be fruitful in what He has called us to do for him.
In Him, we receive the requisite supplies for life and godliness.
